Boeing 777-FS2, registered N885FD and named "Mairead," was delivered to FedEx Express on October 29, 2011, following its first flight on September 26 of that year. The aircraft has worn a special "Panda Express" promotional livery, reflecting a marketing partnership between FedEx and the restaurant chain. As part of FedEx's extensive 777 freighter fleet, N885FD supports the company's global express logistics network, having been tracked on international cargo routes connecting hubs across Asia, including flights between Osaka and Guangzhou, reflecting FedEx's dense Asia-Pacific freight operations alongside its core American hub network. Designed as a wide-bodied, twin-engined airliner to compete with the Airbus A330/A340 and the McDonnell Douglas MD-11, the 777 was first flown on June 12th, 1994. A pair of the world's largest diameter turbofan engines power the aircraft which currently holds the record for world's largest twin-engined airliner. The 777 was Boeing's first fly-by-wire airliner, featuring complete glass cockpit displays and flight envelope protection.
