Airbus A320-232, serial number 5856, operated by British Airways as G-EUYR. Built at Toulouse with test registration F-WWBY, the aircraft was delivered new to British Airways on November 21, 2013. Powered by International Aero Engines V2527-A5 engines, it has spent its career on BA's European network and was reconfigured several times, reaching a 180-seat configuration in 2019. In November 2023, G-EUYR received distinctive oneworld alliance colors. It transferred operationally to BA Euroflyer in May 2026 while retaining British Airways branding and remains active from London Gatwick in 2026, serving destinations including Malaga, Nice, Dubrovnik and Thessaloniki.
Designed as a short/medium range narrow-body airliner to compete with the Boeing 737, the Airbus A320 was first flown on February 22nd, 1987. The A320 features side stick controllers and glass cockpit and was the world's first airliner to use use a digital fly-by-wire control system. Controversially, the software includes "flight envelope protection" to prevent the pilot from exceeding safe flight parameters. The highly successful design rapidly led to the development of the shortened-fuselage A318 and A319, and lengthened-fuselage A321 derivatives.
