Antonov An-26, NATO reporting name "Curl," serves the Ukrainian Air Force as a twin-engine tactical transport aircraft, part of a type first introduced in 1969 and still operated by Ukraine among other nations. Fitted with a rear cargo ramp for direct loading, the An-26 has supported Ukrainian military logistics, including operations during the ongoing conflict with Russia following the 2022 full-scale invasion. Ukrainian An-26s have suffered losses during the war, including a 2020 training crash near Chuhuiv that killed 26 personnel and further losses attributed to combat operations, reflecting the aircraft's continued frontline utility despite its age.
