Boeing 787-9, construction line number LN1128, became the first Dreamliner delivered to MIAT Mongolian Airlines, registered JU-1789, completing its maiden test flight from Charleston, South Carolina, as Boeing flight BOE581. The delivery marked a significant fleet upgrade for Mongolia's flag carrier, introducing widebody long-haul capability to the airline's previously narrowbody-focused operations. As MIAT's inaugural 787, JU-1789 opened new possibilities for direct international routes connecting Ulaanbaatar to destinations across Asia and Europe, representing a milestone in modernizing the aviation infrastructure of a landlocked nation historically reliant on regional turboprop and older jet aircraft for its limited air links.
Designed as a mid-sized, wide-body airliner and constructed out of mostly composite material, the 787 was first flown on December 15th, 2009. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
