Boeing 737-800, registered PK-GMZ, flies for Garuda Indonesia and notably wore a special "75 Indonesia Maju" livery commemorating Indonesia's 75th anniversary of independence. The aircraft has also carried a "Sukseskan Vaksinasi" (Support Vaccination Success) design during the COVID-19 pandemic, part of Garuda's broader campaign using its 737 fleet to promote national vaccination efforts. As one of Garuda's workhorse narrowbody jets, PK-GMZ operates domestic and regional routes across Indonesia and Southeast Asia, including flights through hubs like Hong Kong. The aircraft reflects Garuda's practice of using special commemorative liveries on select 737-800s to mark national milestones. Designed as a smaller, short-ranged alternative to the Boeing 707 and 727, the 737 was first flown on April 9th, 1967. Over its long operational carreer, the 737 has spawned numerous variants ranging in capacity from less than 100 to more than 200 seats. In fact, the 737 series is the best-selling jetliner in aviation history with more than 6,500 aircraft manufactured to date and more than 4,500 still in service with over 500 airlines around the world. Incredibly, there is a 737 taking off or landing somewhere in the world, on average, every five seconds. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
