Ilyushin Il-86, serial number 51483210097, was one of the same trio of Il-86s delivered new to China Xinjiang Airlines in 1993. Registered B-2016, it flew alongside sister ship B-2018 on Xinjiang's domestic and international network from Urumqi, serving routes into Central Asia and Russia during the 1990s. Photographed at bases including Beijing Capital and Guangzhou Baiyun, the aircraft represented a rare instance of Soviet-built widebody jets operating for a non-Soviet-bloc carrier. Details on this specific airframe's post-Xinjiang fate are less documented than its sister aircraft, though the type was retired from Chinese service following the 2002 merger into China Southern Airlines.
