McDonnell Douglas MD-82, entered service with China Eastern Airlines as B-2269. The aircraft formed part of China Eastern's substantial MD-80 fleet during the airline's rapid expansion in the 1990s. Operating primarily on domestic and regional services, the MD-82 connected Shanghai with major cities throughout China and neighboring Asian markets. Powered by two Pratt & Whitney JT8D engines mounted at the rear of the fuselage, B-2269 offered dependable short and medium haul performance. The MD-82 became an important aircraft in China Eastern's early development before the carrier transitioned toward newer Airbus and Boeing narrowbody types.
Designed as a stretched and modified DC-9, the MD-80 was first flown on October 18th, 1979. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
