Boeing 737-408, serial number 25063, line number 2032, operated by Icelandair as TF-FID and named "Heiddis." Built in 1991, the aircraft joined Icelandair that year and spent more than a decade operating the carrier's European and transatlantic network from Keflavik. It left Icelandair in 2002 and became SX-BGR with Cronus Airlines and subsequently Aegean Airlines. After passenger service ended, the aircraft was converted for freight operations and joined Brazil's Varig Log as PR-LGR in 2010. It later returned to Europe as F-GZTI with Europe Airpost and subsequently ASL Airlines France, extending its career as a 737-400 freighter. Designed as a smaller, short-ranged alternative to the Boeing 707 and 727, the 737 was first flown on April 9th, 1967. Over its long operational carreer, the 737 has spawned numerous variants ranging in capacity from less than 100 to more than 200 seats. In fact, the 737 series is the best-selling jetliner in aviation history with more than 6,500 aircraft manufactured to date and more than 4,500 still in service with over 500 airlines around the world.
