Boeing 737-8 MAX, operated by Malaysia Airlines as 9M-MVA. Delivered in November 2023, it was the first 737 MAX 8 to enter Malaysia Airlines service and marked an important step in the carrier's narrowbody fleet modernization. The aircraft departed Boeing Field on November 13 and reached Kuala Lumpur on November 16 after stops at Honolulu and Guam. 9M-MVA carries a distinctive Malaysia flag-inspired livery together with the airline's updated songket-pattern wau tail motif and later received a "Sustainable Tomorrow" sticker. Configured with 12 business and 162 economy seats, it remains active in 2026 on routes including Singapore, Bangkok, Jakarta, Manila, Kathmandu and Male. The Boeing 737 MAX is an American narrow-body aircraft series being developed by Boeing Commercial Airplanes as the fourth generation of the Boeing 737, succeeding the Boeing 737 Next Generation. The first flight was on January 29, 2016. The 737 MAX is based on earlier 737 designs but re-engined with more efficient CFM International LEAP-1B along with aerodynamic improvements, most notably split-tip winglets, and airframe modifications.
