McDonnell Douglas MD-11, serial number 48538, line number 533, operated by LTU as D-AERZ. First flown on February 23, 1993, it was delivered new to LTU on March 13 and entered service eight days later. D-AERZ flew LTU's long-haul leisure network until October 1998, completing 24,152 flight hours and 5,413 landings. It then joined Swissair as HB-IWU. Following Swissair's collapse, the aircraft was stored before being acquired by UPS and converted into an MD-11F freighter.
