Boeing 777-3SBER, serial number 62439, operated during flight testing as N509BJ before entering service with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force as 80-1111. Built as one of two new Japanese government 777-300ERs, the aircraft was flown from Everett to Basel in October 2016 for installation of its specialized VIP interior. It was delivered to Japan in August 2018 and entered government service in 2019, replacing the country's Boeing 747-400 government transports. Based at Chitose Air Base, 80-1111 carries the prime minister, emperor and other senior officials on overseas missions and can also support emergency evacuation operations.

Boeing 777-300ER

Designed as a wide-bodied, twin-engined airliner to compete with the Airbus A330/A340 and the McDonnell Douglas MD-11, the 777 was first flown on June 12th, 1994. A pair of the world's largest diameter turbofan engines power the aircraft which currently holds the record for world's largest twin-engined airliner. The 777 was Boeing's first fly-by-wire airliner, featuring complete glass cockpit displays and flight envelope protection. Standard varients have a range of 4,200 nautical miles while Extended Range (ER) variants can fly for 6,600 nautical miles and the Longer Range (LR) variant is the world's longest range airliner capable of flying 7,800 nautical miles.
