Dornier 228-212, serial number 8119, entered service with Northwest Airlink as N71FB. The aircraft operated regional routes within the United States as part of Northwest Airlines' feeder network. The Dornier 228 is designed for short distance operations and the ability to serve smaller regional airports with short runways. Configured with a small passenger cabin, the aircraft provided efficient service linking smaller communities to Northwest's larger hubs. Powered by Garrett TPE331 turboprop engines, N71FB offered reliable performance and flexibility for regional operations.
