Airbus A320-214, operated for Condor Airlines as LZ-FBG. The aircraft is owned and operated by Bulgaria Air and has been used on Condor services under wet-lease arrangements, supplementing the German leisure carrier's short and medium haul fleet. Configured for high-density passenger operations, the A320 is well suited to popular vacation routes from Germany to destinations around the Mediterranean and other European leisure markets. Powered by two CFM International CFM56 engines, LZ-FBG combines dependable performance with economical operation. The aircraft continues to operate with Bulgaria Air while also supporting partner airline services when required.
Designed as a short/medium range narrow-body airliner to compete with the Boeing 737, the Airbus A320 was first flown on February 22nd, 1987. The A320 features side stick controllers and glass cockpit and was the world's first airliner to use use a digital fly-by-wire control system. Controversially, the software includes "flight envelope protection" to prevent the pilot from exceeding safe flight parameters. The highly successful design rapidly led to the development of the shortened-fuselage A318 and A319, and lengthened-fuselage A321 derivatives.
