McDonnell Douglas MD-82, serial number 48048, line number 1005, operated by Martinair Holland as PH-MBY. Built in 1981, the aircraft was originally delivered to Yugoslavia's Inex-Adria Airways as YU-ANB. Martinair leased it between November 1981 and early 1983, initially operating it in hybrid Inex-Adria/Martinair colors before it received fuller Martinair markings. After returning to Inex-Adria, it enjoyed a long succession of operators including Adria Airways, Venus Airlines, ValuJet and Reno Air. It eventually joined Spirit Airlines as N801NK. After an unusually varied career spanning Europe and the United States, the MD-82 was withdrawn at Walnut Ridge, Arkansas in 2005.
Designed as a stretched and modified DC-9, the MD-80 was first flown on October 18th, 1979. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
