Airbus A320-214, serial number 921, operated by Air China as B-2377. Delivered new to Zhejiang Airlines in 1998, the aircraft joined Air China following the consolidation of Zhejiang Airlines into the national carrier, serving with Air China from 2004 until 2016. B-2377 became especially recognizable in the colorful "Blue Peony" special livery. Withdrawn from Air China service in May 2016, it later operated as XU-719 with Sky Angkor Airlines and as LY-NVZ with Avion Express, including leases to SunExpress. After more than two decades of passenger service with Asian and European operators, the aircraft was finally scrapped in 2023. Designed as a short/medium range narrow-body airliner to compete with the Boeing 737, the Airbus A320 was first flown on February 22nd, 1987. The A320 features side stick controllers and glass cockpit and was the world's first airliner to use use a digital fly-by-wire control system. Controversially, the software includes "flight envelope protection" to prevent the pilot from exceeding safe flight parameters. The highly successful design rapidly led to the development of the shortened-fuselage A318 and A319, and lengthened-fuselage A321 derivatives.
