In May 2015, the Polish Air Force repainted this MiG-29UB with a paint scheme commemorating Polish Fighter Ace, Stanislaw Skalski. The scheme featured a large emblem on top of the aircraft honoring the 22nd Tactical Aviation Base at Malbork, while the insides of the vertical tail surfaces included portrait images of Skalski himself. Stanislaw Skalski was one of the most famous Polish pilots fighting during the Second World War. Officially he shot down 18 and 11/12 enemy fighters, with 2 probable kills. Skalski was serving in the Torun-based 142nd Fighter Escadrille of the 4th Aviation Regiment, and then in the No.306 (City of Torun) Polish Fighter Squadron, traditions of which are maintained and pursued by the Malbork 22nd Air Base. He also commanded the famous Polish Fighting Team unit, also known as the "Skalski's Circus".
Please note: An optional display stand is available separately if you wish to display this model "in-flight".
Designed to help the Soviet Union attain air superiority, the MiG-29 fighter was first flown on October 6th, 1977. The MiG-29, known as the "Fulcrum," has a high-mounted bubble canopy and twin jet engines with diagonal-shaped air intakes and large exhausts. Its tapered, swept-back wings and boom-mounted tail fins give it its classic look. Armed with medium and short-range missiles and unguided weapons for ground and sea-surface targets, the MiG-29's sight is a helmet-mounted system-the pilot chooses his targets by looking at them. Even today the Fulcrum remains a potent adversary, and will remain in service for at least another decade. © Copyright 2003-2024 The Flying Mule, Inc.
JC's 1:72 scale MiG-29 is constructed almost entirely of diecast metal, with careful attention paid to even the smallest of details. This is a model with many movable parts, including a hinged canopy, deployable speed breaks and movable rudders with correctly replicated actuator mechanism. The landing gear is highly detailed, with rivets inside the gear doors, separately applied transparent landing lights, structural detail inside the wheel wells and a detailed splash fender. The auxiliary air inlet's louvers seamlessly blend with the upper fuselage. Fully armed with a 30mm cannon and three different missile types, this model is available as the single-seat A variant or two-seat B variant.
