410 Tactical Fighter Operational Training Squadron , nicknamed the "Cougars", is a Royal Canadian Air Force aircraft squadron currently located at Canada's primary training base for the CF-18 (Canadian Forces version of the McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet), at Cold Lake, Alberta. The squadron usually trains between 20 and 22 pilots a year on the CF-18, more than any other RCAF squadron.

Designed as a replacement for the A-4 Skyhawk and the A-7 Corsair II and as a complement to the F-14 Tomcat, the F/A-18 first flew on November 18, 1978. Perhaps best known as the aircraft of the US Navy's Blue Angels, this carrier-capable, supersonic, all-weather fighter has many roles, including fighter escort, fleet air defense and close air support. The F/A-18 is a versatile aircraft: it can operate from carriers or land bases and a single switch converts it from fighter to strike mode. JC's 1:72 scale F/A-18 series includes the single-seat F/A-18C, the two-seat F/A-18D Hornet and the more modern single-seat F/A-18E and two-seat F/A-18F Super Hornet. Witty's has taken steps to make this model one of the finest on the market, and one of this mold's highlights is a correct hydraulic actuator, which supports a canopy that is made of very clear, thin plastic. Other details include movable elevators, a deployable speed brake that can be held open with the hinged hydraulic actuator, detailed landing gear struts, doors and wells, and independently hinged stabilators and rudders that remain firmly in place when adjusted.
