Boeing 737-800, operated by GOL as PR-GXB. GOL used the aircraft as part of its scheduled passenger or freight network. The registration PR-GXB identifies the individual airframe within the fleet. The type was selected for its balance of capacity, range, and operating economics and was used where those characteristics best matched the carrier's route structure. Its service forms part of the airline's continuing fleet evolution as older aircraft were replaced or supplemented by newer designs with improved fuel efficiency, avionics, reliability, and passenger amenities. Designed to meet US Air Force requirements for an air superiority fighter to replace the F-4 Phantom, the F-15 Eagle first flew on July 27, 1972. Following reviews of proposals, the United States Air Force selected McDonnell Douglas's design in 1969 to meet the service's need for a dedicated air superiority fighter. Since entering service in 1976, it is among the most successful modern fighters, with over 100 victories and no losses in aerial combat, with the majority of the kills by the Israeli Air Force. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
