Boeing 757-2K2, operated by the Royal New Zealand Air Force as NZ7572. Like sister aircraft NZ7571, it began life with Dutch carrier Transavia before New Zealand acquired it in 2003. The aircraft was modified for combined passenger and freight operations and assigned to No. 40 Squadron at RNZAF Base Auckland. NZ7572 has carried military personnel, government delegations, equipment, and humanitarian supplies on missions across the Pacific, Asia, North America, and other regions. Its speed and range represented a major improvement over the Boeing 727s it replaced, while the convertible cabin allowed the RNZAF to adapt the aircraft rapidly for different strategic transport requirements.

Boeing 757-200

Designed as a narrow-bodied, twin-engined airliner to replace the 727, the 757 was first flown on February 19th, 1982. Developed in tandem with the wide-bodied 767 twinjet, both aircraft share a common digital cockpit layout and are operated by a two man flight crew. Thanks to a proven reliability track-record, the 757 is approved for extended twin engine operations (ETOPS) making it a popular choice for airlines flying transatlantic routes. A total of 1050 aircraft were built before production ceased in 2004, however many airframes have since been retrofitted with drag-reducing blended winglets to help improve fuel economy.
