Boeing 777-300ER, operated by Qatar Airways as A7-BAC. The GE90-powered 777-300ER became one of the defining high-capacity long-haul aircraft of the 2000s and 2010s. Qatar Airways employed the aircraft from Doha as part of its rapidly expanding global hub network, connecting Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas, and Australasia. The registration A7-BAC identifies the individual aircraft within that fleet, tying it to the carrier's own operational history. Its service illustrates the industry's continuing move toward long-range twinjets that reduce fuel burn and maintenance requirements while retaining the payload and range needed for nonstop international routes. Designed as a wide-bodied, twin-engined airliner to compete with the Airbus A330/A340 and the McDonnell Douglas MD-11, the 777 was first flown on June 12th, 1994. A pair of the world's largest diameter turbofan engines power the aircraft which currently holds the record for world's largest twin-engined airliner. The 777 was Boeing's first fly-by-wire airliner, featuring complete glass cockpit displays and flight envelope protection.
