Boeing 747-400, operated by Eva Air as B-16406. The aircraft belongs to a generation that played a major role in the expansion of its operator's network before newer, more fuel-efficient types arrived. EVA Air used the aircraft from Taipei on regional and long-haul services, building a reputation for a modern international fleet and extensive connections between Asia and North America. The aircraft's service reflects the transition from late twentieth-century jetliners to today's quieter and more economical fleets. Examples of this type frequently changed operators later in life, and many widebody and narrowbody airframes subsequently found second careers with charter, cargo, or overseas airlines.
