Boeing 777-300ER, operated by China Southern Airlines as B-2007. Powered by GE90-115B engines, the 777-300ER became one of the defining long-haul widebodies of the 2000s and 2010s. China Southern used the aircraft from major hubs including Guangzhou, employing the type on high-density domestic services and regional or long-haul international routes according to its capabilities. The airframe represents the period in which long-range twinjets increasingly replaced older three- and four-engine aircraft, offering airlines lower fuel burn and maintenance costs while retaining the range needed for nonstop international flying. Designed as a wide-bodied, twin-engined airliner to compete with the Airbus A330/A340 and the McDonnell Douglas MD-11, the 777 was first flown on June 12th, 1994. A pair of the world's largest diameter turbofan engines power the aircraft which currently holds the record for world's largest twin-engined airliner. The 777 was Boeing's first fly-by-wire airliner, featuring complete glass cockpit displays and flight envelope protection.
