Airbus A350-900, operated by Air China as B-308M. Powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines, the A350-900 combines a largely composite airframe with long range and improved fuel efficiency. Air China used the aircraft from its Beijing-centered network, where the type supported domestic trunk services and international routes as the carrier modernized beyond older Boeing and Airbus equipment. The airframe represents the period in which long-range twinjets increasingly replaced older three- and four-engine aircraft, offering airlines lower fuel burn and maintenance costs while retaining the range needed for nonstop international flying.
