Boeing 747-400, operated by Air China as B-2472. The aircraft belongs to a generation that played a major role in the expansion of its operator's network before newer, more fuel-efficient types arrived. Air China used the aircraft from its Beijing-centered network, where the type supported domestic trunk services and international routes as the carrier modernized beyond older Boeing and Airbus equipment. The aircraft's service reflects the transition from late twentieth-century jetliners to today's quieter and more economical fleets. Examples of this type frequently changed operators later in life, and many widebody and narrowbody airframes subsequently found second careers with charter, cargo, or overseas airlines.
Designed as a large capacity airliner and freight hauler, the 747 was first flown on February 9th, 1969. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
