Boeing 777-2J6, serial number 29747, registered N772ET. Built in 2001, the aircraft originally entered service with Air China as B-2068. Boeing acquired the airframe in 2018 and used it as the 2019 ecoDemonstrator, a flying testbed for new technologies intended to improve safety, efficiency, and passenger experience. The aircraft retained Pratt & Whitney PW4090 engines and operated under an experimental airworthiness classification while supporting research, development, exhibition, and market-survey work. It was stored at Victorville in March 2020 and was later registered to Alta 777 LLC, illustrating an unusual career from scheduled airline service to Boeing flight-test duties. Designed as a wide-bodied, twin-engined airliner to compete with the Airbus A330/A340 and the McDonnell Douglas MD-11, the 777 was first flown on June 12th, 1994. A pair of the world's largest diameter turbofan engines power the aircraft which currently holds the record for world's largest twin-engined airliner. The 777 was Boeing's first fly-by-wire airliner, featuring complete glass cockpit displays and flight envelope protection. Standard varients have a range of 4,200 nautical miles while Extended Range (ER) variants can fly for 6,600 nautical miles and the Longer Range (LR) variant is the world's longest range airliner capable of flying 7,800 nautical miles. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
