Airbus A380-800, construction number 001, test registration F-WWOW. The aircraft was used by the manufacturer for development, certification, demonstration, or customer-support work associated with the type. Manufacturer test aircraft are used to evaluate handling qualities, systems, performance, reliability, and new equipment before and after entry into commercial service. They also frequently appear on demonstration flights and at major aviation events. This airframe represents the extensive flight-test and engineering effort behind a modern airliner and may later be retained for development duties, reconfigured for another role, or transferred to an airline customer.
