Airbus A330-200, operated by Air Hong Kong as B-LDS. The aircraft served in cargo operations, carrying express freight, general merchandise, machinery, and other high-value or time-sensitive loads. Its combination of payload, range, and dependable performance made the type well suited to demanding freight schedules and major logistics hubs. The operator used aircraft of this family to connect important cargo markets while supporting rapid loading and turnaround. Freighter service demonstrates the versatility of proven commercial airframes, which can remain economically useful for many years while supporting worldwide trade, express delivery, and specialized logistics operations.
Designed as a wide-bodied, long-haul passenger transport to compete with the Boeing 767, the A330 was first flown on November 2nd, 1992. It was designed as a lengthened version of the A300 and was developed in parallel with the larger, four-engined A340, enabling many of the components to be shared between the three types. The A330 also uses the same fly-by-wire technology that was introduced with the A320, featuring a glass cockpit and side-stick controllers.
