Boeing 767-204ER, serial number 24736, line number 296, operated by Britannia Airways as G-BRIF. The aircraft first flew on February 23, 1990 and joined Britannia on March 10. Its career included several leases while retaining G-BRIF, including Air Holland in 1990-91 and Argentina's Dinar Lineas Aereas in 1994-95. After returning to Britannia, it later appeared in Thomsonfly colors following the carrier's rebranding. In September 2007 it became G-SILC with all-business airline Silverjet. After Silverjet collapsed in 2008, the aircraft continued its unusually varied career with Jordan Aviation as JY-JAI.
Designed as a wide-bodied, twin-engined airliner to fill the niche between the narrow-bodied 707 and wide-bodied 747, the 767 was first flown on September 26th, 1981. Developed in tandem with the narrow-bodied 757 twinjet, both aircraft share a common digital cockpit layout and are operated by a two man flight crew. Thanks to a proven reliability track-record, the 767 is approved for extended twin engine operations (ETOPS) making it a popular choice for airlines flying transatlantic routes.
