Boeing 757-200, operated by American Airlines as N188AN. The aircraft served short and medium-haul passenger routes and provided a practical balance of capacity, range, and operating performance. American Airlines used aircraft such as N188AN to connect major cities with regional destinations while supporting frequent scheduled services. The type became part of the continuing evolution of narrowbody airline operations, offering the reliability and flexibility required for intensive daily use. Later aircraft generations introduced improved engines, avionics, fuel efficiency, and passenger amenities, but examples such as N188AN remain representative of the equipment that helped build and sustain the carrier's route network.
Designed as a narrow-bodied, twin-engined airliner to replace the 727, the 757 was first flown on February 19th, 1982. Thanks to a proven reliability track-record, the 757 is approved for extended twin engine operations (ETOPS) making it a popular choice for airlines flying transatlantic routes.
