Boeing 727-284, operated by Olympic Airways as SX-CBF. The aircraft formed part of Olympic's 727 fleet during the airline's classic Aristotle Onassis-era expansion and became a familiar sight on services from Athens to destinations throughout Greece, Europe, and the Middle East. The 727 was particularly well suited to Olympic's network because its strong runway performance allowed operation from many smaller Greek island airports while its three-engine configuration provided useful range over Mediterranean routes. SX-CBF wore Olympic's distinctive blue-and-white colors and Olympic rings, representing an era when Boeing 707s, 727s, and 737s formed the backbone of Greece's national airline.
Designed as a smaller, short/medium-ranged complement to the 707, the 727 was first flown on February 9th, 1963. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
