Boeing 727-200, construction number 20709, was delivered to Braniff International as N404BN in 1973 during the airline's well-known color design era. The aircraft flew domestic and Latin American services from Braniff hubs in Dallas and Houston, supporting the carrier's rapid expansion through the 1970s. N404BN remained in the fleet until Braniff ceased operations in 1982, after which the jet was transferred to new owners and continued flying for several more years. As it aged, it moved into secondary roles before retirement and parting out. The airframe is remembered as part of Braniff's bold and distinctive 727 fleet.
Designed as a smaller, short/medium-ranged complement to the 707, the 727 was first flown on February 9th, 1963. © Copyright 2003-2025 The Flying Mule, Inc.
