Boeing 727-21, entered service with Pan American World Airways as N5608. The aircraft joined Pan Am's short and medium haul fleet during the 1960s, providing feeder services connecting domestic and regional destinations with the airline's extensive international network. Powered by three Pratt & Whitney JT8D engines, the 727-100 offered excellent performance from shorter runways and airports with limited ground facilities. N5608 operated routes throughout the United States, Caribbean, and Latin America, wearing Pan Am's famous blue globe livery during the classic jet age. The versatile 727 became an important complement to Pan Am's larger Boeing 707 and 747 fleets.
