Boeing 720, operated by Continental Airlines as N57203. The aircraft served during an important period in the development of commercial jet travel, when airlines were rapidly expanding route networks and replacing older equipment with faster, higher-capacity aircraft. Continental Airlines used the type on passenger services where its combination of performance, capacity, and range matched contemporary traffic requirements. N57203 represents a generation of classic airliners that became familiar sights at major airports and helped establish modern scheduled airline service. Although later designs offered lower fuel consumption and improved technology, these aircraft earned lasting reputations for durability and dependable operation.
Designed as the first American turbine-engined airliner, the 707 was first flown on July 15th, 1954.
