Airbus A319-112, operated by Mexicana as N790MX. The aircraft formed part of Mexicana's major Airbus narrowbody modernization program, which replaced aging Boeing 727s and helped standardize the carrier around the A320 family. Powered by CFM International CFM56 engines, N790MX was used on domestic Mexican routes and international services to the United States, Caribbean, and Latin America. Its relatively small capacity made the A319 particularly useful on thinner markets while retaining cockpit and maintenance commonality with Mexicana's larger A320s. The aircraft's Mexicana career ended when the historic airline suspended operations in August 2010 amid severe financial difficulties.
