Airbus A318-111, serial number 1939, entered service with Frontier Airlines as N801FR in July 2003. The aircraft was Frontier's first A318 and carried the airline's distinctive "Grizwald the Grizzly Bear" tail artwork. Configured with 114 seats, the compact Airbus operated domestic services from Frontier's Denver hub and helped the carrier serve lower-demand routes while maintaining commonality with its larger A319 fleet. Powered by two CFM International CFM56 engines, N801FR remained with Frontier until October 2012. It was subsequently stored at St. Athan in the United Kingdom and scrapped in 2014.
Designed as a greatly shortened-fuselage version of the highly successful A320 design, the A318 was first flown on January 15th, 2002 © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
