Airbus A310-304, operated by Air Afrique as TU-TAF. The widebody joined the multinational West African carrier as part of its effort to modernize long-haul services linking its African network with Europe and other international destinations. Powered by General Electric CF6 engines, the A310 provided intercontinental range with substantially better economics than larger first-generation widebodies. TU-TAF became representative of Air Afrique's later years, when the carrier relied increasingly on modern Airbus equipment for its principal international routes. The airline ultimately ceased operations in 2002 after years of financial difficulties, bringing its distinctive multinational operation to an end.
Designed as a smaller version of the original A300, the A310 was first flown on April 3rd, 1982. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
