Boeing 757-236, serial number 28665, entered service with British Airways as G-CPEM. The aircraft joined the airline's short and medium haul fleet in the early 1990s and operated routes from London Heathrow and London Gatwick to destinations across Europe and the Middle East. Configured with business and economy seating, it provided strong performance and flexibility for both high density and longer regional sectors. Powered by Rolls Royce RB211 engines, the 757-200 offered excellent reliability, efficient fuel consumption, and the ability to operate from a wide range of airports. G-CPEM served British Airways for many years before the airline retired its 757 fleet.
Designed as a narrow-bodied, twin-engined airliner to replace the 727, the 757 was first flown on February 19th, 1982. Developed in tandem with the wide-bodied 767 twinjet, both aircraft share a common digital cockpit layout and are operated by a two man flight crew. Thanks to a proven reliability track-record, the 757 is approved for extended twin engine operations (ETOPS) making it a popular choice for airlines flying transatlantic routes. A total of 1050 aircraft were built before production ceased in 2004, however many airframes have since been retrofitted with drag-reducing blended winglets to help improve fuel economy. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
