"Mainliner Des Moines" was originally given to United Airlines DC-3 NC16061 in 1936. On July 11, 1953 a Douglas DC-6B c/n 44081-395 replaced this DC-3 and was assigned the name "Mainliner Des Moines". During its life the aircraft was sold and converted to an A/B by B&D Aircraft Inc. in Chino California. This converted aircraft was registered as N66DG and was last owned by Pacific Alaska Airlines who eventually scrapped theDC-6.
