June 1950 saw the beginning of the Korean War and the South Korean Army found themselves without any tank destroyers. When the UN troops had finally been able to push the North Korean troops back toward the north the South Korean Army was supplied with 110 M36’s. Most M36 tanks had been modernized with an M3A1 90mm gun and an armored roof to protect the crew from snipers and any projectiles. The fighting ended on 27 July 1953, when the armistice agreement was signed.
