The DAK (Deutsches Afrika Korps) was comprised of the 15th and 21st Panzer Divisions and the 90th Light Division. The first commander was General Erwin Rommel. The Allies tended to call all German troops in North Africa the "Afrika Korps" even though they weren't part of the DAK. November 1942 saw the British forces begin to become the victors. In March 1943 Rommel was replaced by von Arnim who surrendered May 12, 1943. The DAK existed from February 1941 until their surrender in Tunisia in May 1943.
Designed in the mid 1930s as a personnel transport for the German Army and Medical Corps, the Horch 1A (also known as the Horch 108) served until the end of World War II. Virtually all German combat units employed a Horch 1A, which was used to tow the 20mm FlaK 38 anti-aircraft gun. The Horch 1A had several ahead-of-its-time features, including four steerable wheels and two spare wheels mounted externally on rotating stub-axles, which helped prevent the chassis from "bottoming-out" when crossing rough terrain. Produced from 1937 to 1940, variants of this vehicle included ambulances and luxury transport for German officers. © Copyright 2003-2024 The Flying Mule, Inc.
Hobby Master's 1:72 scale Horch 108 has a plastic body, which allows for authentic replication of details, and a diecast metal chassis which provides weight and feel. This model has a roomy interior, with separately painted seat cushions, a pad-printed instrument panel, and beautifully recreated steering wheel, pedals and transmission shifters. On the exterior, the side mirrors, spotlight, headlights, bumper and a shovel have all been separately-applied, and there are delicate cable hooks on the front and rear of the model. Releases in this series include various roof configurations and extra equipment such as a 20mm FlaK gun and trailer.
