As a replacement for the Saab 35 Draken, Austria had originally agreed to purchase 18 Eurofighter 2000s but the number was reduced to 15. Just prior to the Austrian Air Force "Air Power 2019" air show held at Zeltweg AB, they unveiled 7L-WB as their first ever EF2000 Eurofighter to receive a special paint scheme. 7L-WB Tranche 1 c/n 5001/AS0002 was the second EF 2000 produced for Austria and completed its maiden flight on July 9, 2007 and soon after was based at Zeltweg AB. All Eurofighters are based at Zeltweg.
Designed as part of a co-operative effort by Germany, Italy and the UK to produce an air superiority fighter, the Eurofighter was first flown on March 27th, 1994. The Eurofighter is a single-seat, twin-engine, agile combat aircraft used in air-to-air, air-to-ground and tactical reconnaissance roles. It is intentionally aerodynamically unstable, which gives it its high levels of agility-but this means the Typhoon is controlled by a computerized "fly by wire" system instead of by its pilot. The Hobby Master 1:72 scale EF-2000 Eurofighter recreates the distinctive European twin-engine multirole fighter operated by several NATO air forces. Functional features include a cockpit canopy that can be configured open or closed, movable forward canards, a removable pilot figure and interchangeable extended or retracted landing gear. Individual releases include installable weapons and external stores appropriate to the aircraft represented. The mold captures the Eurofighter's large delta wing, close-coupled canards, prominent lower air intake and twin engine exhausts. Die-cast metal construction is complemented by detailed cockpit instrumentation, wheel wells, landing gear, pylons, antennas and finely reproduced surface features.
