A-20G "Hell'n Pelican II" was a Douglas A-20 Havoc attack aircraft operating in the Southwest Pacific Theater during WWII. The 388th Bombardment Squadron conducted low-level bombing and strafing missions against Japanese forces. On April 16th, 1944, the aircraft crash landed on Papau New Guinea. The wreckage remained there for more than forty years before being recovered by Chinook helicopter and transported to the Royal Australian Air Force Heritage Museum at RAAF Amberley. After restoration, it was put on display at the museum where it can still be viewed today.
