AIDC produced 10 pre-production aircraft and F-CK-1A 1402 / 81-8008 was one and first flew on December 24, 1993. The 10 pre-production aircraft went to establish the ROCAF’s first F-CK-1 squadron. 1402 / 81-8008 was assigned to Ching Chuan Kang Air Base (CCK) the home of the 427th TFW comprised of the 3rd TFG with three squadrons. The 7th TFG “Wolf” F-CK-1A’s wear a red tail flash, 8th TFS “Flying Dragon” has stood down and 28th TFG “Baby Dragon” F-CK-1A’s wear a blue tail flash.

Hobby Master's 1:72 F-CK-1A is assembled with a large amount of diecast metal with plastic components only used for scale details, such as landing gear doors and removable weapons ordnance. The low profile fuselage features a hinged canopy that opens for an unobstructed view of the cockpit interior features such as a pilot seat and front and side pad-printed instrument panels. The landing gear is constructed as subassemblies and fitted with a slotted mount quick and easy ground or in-flight configuration. Additional features include air data probes and sensor up front and an arrester hook at the rear.
