This Mi-8 received a special color scheme with a red eagle, the symbol of the State of Brandenburg, to commemorate the flyout of the Air Transport Wing 65 (LTG 65). Following German reunification, the LTG 65 was formed to bundle the various air transport units of the East German Air Force into one unit.
Designed as a turbine-powered replacement for the Mi-4, the Mi-8 was first flown on July 8th, 1961. © Copyright 2003-2024 The Flying Mule, Inc.
