In 2016, Typhoon FGR.Mk 4 #ZK315, based at RAF Coningsby, England was decorated in this special commemorative paint scheme to celebrate RAF No.41 Squadron's 100th Anniverary. No.41 Squadron is one of the RAF's oldest and most distinguished squadrons. Initially flying biplanes, the squadron played a crucial role in both World Wars, transitioning through various aircraft, including the Spitfire in WWII. Post-war, No. 41 Squadron has operated a range of jet aircraft, including the Tornado GR4 and the Eurofighter Typhoon. Today, it serves as a test and evaluation unit, responsible for developing and integrating advanced weapons and systems. The squadron's rich history and ongoing contributions underscore its importance in the RAF's operational capabilities.

Eurofighter Typhoon FGR.Mk 4

Designed as part of a co-operative effort by Germany, Italy and the UK to produce an air superiority fighter, the Eurofighter was first flown on March 27th, 1994. The Eurofighter is a single-seat, twin-engine, agile combat aircraft used in air-to-air, air-to-ground and tactical reconnaissance roles. It is intentionally aerodynamically unstable, which gives it its high levels of agility-but this means the Typhoon is controlled by a computerized "fly by wire" system instead of by its pilot. The Eurofighter's first rate performance is matched by excellent all round vision and by sophisticated attack, identification and defense systems and stealth technology.
