De Havilland Canada DHC-8-402 Q400, operated by Wideroe as LN-WDM. The high-speed turboprop is a key part of Wideroe's extensive Norwegian regional network, serving routes that include short runways, mountainous terrain, and challenging weather. Powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW150A engines, the Q400 combines excellent fuel efficiency and short-field performance with cruising speeds approaching those of regional jets. LN-WDM links communities throughout Norway and supports selected international services. The type complements Wideroe's smaller Dash 8 variants while providing greater capacity on busy regional sectors, making it particularly well suited to Norway's unique geography and dispersed population.

Designed as a short-haul transport based on the Dash 7 design, the Bombardier Dash 8 (formerly de Havilland Canada DHC-8) was first flown on June 20th, 1983. Appearing to be a smaller, twin-engined version of the Dash 7, the Dash 8 design placed less emphasis on STOL (Short take-off and landing) capability and focused more heavily on economical operation.
