Airbus A330-300, serial number 974, registered as VN-A811, was delivered to VietJet Air on December 25, 2021, becoming the airline's first wide-body aircraft. The aircraft features a striking golden silk strip livery inspired by Vietnam's cultural heritage. Configured with 12 business-class and 365 economy seats, VN-A811 enables VietJet to expand long-haul and medium-haul international operations. Powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines, it provides improved range and efficiency compared to narrow-body aircraft. VN-A811 supports VietJet's growing global ambitions, allowing the low-cost carrier to compete on high-demand international routes and strengthen its presence in Asia and beyond.

Designed as a wide-bodied, long-haul passenger transport to compete with the Boeing 767, the A330 was first flown on November 2nd, 1992. It was designed as a lengthened version of the A300 and was developed in parallel with the larger, four-engined A340, enabling many of the components to be shared between the three types. The A330 also uses the same fly-by-wire technology that was introduced with the A320, featuring a glass cockpit and side-stick controllers.
