Boeing 787-9, construction number 36442, was delivered to United Airlines as N61101 in 2014, becoming the airline's first Dreamliner and launch aircraft for the type. In 2026 it was selected to wear the airline's special 100th Anniversary livery. United Airlines traces its roots to 1926, when Varney Air Lines began carrying mail across the American West. Through mergers in the 1930s, including Boeing Air Transport, the company became United Air Lines and emerged as a pioneer of transcontinental passenger service. United helped shape modern aviation with innovations such as stewardesses, advanced flight navigation, and early jet operations with the Boeing 707. Today, United Airlines is one of the world's largest carriers, operating an extensive domestic and international network, serving millions of travelers annually.
Designed as a mid-sized, wide-body airliner and constructed out of mostly composite material, the 787 was first flown on December 15th, 2009. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
