Boeing 737-8, operated by Mexicana as XA-ASM. The 737-800 provides the revived Mexican carrier with efficient narrowbody capacity for domestic and regional international services. Powered by two CFM International CFM56-7B engines, the type combines dependable performance, useful range, and passenger capacity appropriate for routes linking Mexico City and other bases with destinations throughout the country. The historic Mexicana name returned to the skies under a new state-owned operation after the original airline ceased flying in 2010. Aircraft such as XA-ASM represent the renewed carrier's effort to rebuild a national network while drawing on one of the oldest and most recognizable airline identities in the Americas.
