NAMC YS-11, operated by Japan Transocean Air and its predecessors as JA8794. The Japanese-built twin-engine turboprop served regional routes connecting Okinawa and surrounding islands with larger Japanese cities. Powered by two Rolls-Royce Dart engines, the YS-11 offered rugged construction, dependable short-field performance, and economical capacity for relatively thin routes. The aircraft was Japan's first major postwar commercial airliner and became widely used by domestic airlines, government agencies, and overseas operators. Aircraft such as JA8794 played an important role in developing air links among Japan's remote islands before newer turboprops and jets progressively replaced the type in scheduled passenger service.
Please note: An optional display stand is available separately if you wish to display this model "in-flight".
Designed as medium-sized airliner, the YS-11 was first flown on August 30th, 1962. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
